With our “Me, My Hair, & I” Project, CurlBoss hosts a series of self-care workshops designed to empower girls through healthy hair care education. This series of workshops boosts youth confidence & self-love while exposing young girls to demonstrations & the versatility of hair. The project builds character, pushes the girls to think critically, instills courage, and helps bridge healthy relationships with self, peers, family, and society. Meet our founder, Akilah Young.
Akilah is the Founder and President of CurlBoss, Inc. Upon graduation from Temple University, Akilah embarked on various career paths including a middle school teacher in the Bronx and working for Macy’s Corporate offices. Never feeling fulfilled, Akilah then decided to bridge her passions for the youth, community, and hair into what is today CurlBoss, Inc. With her desire to develop young girls & women, Akilah founded a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering girls and women during their hair & self-love journeys. Akilah considers herself to be a young ladies’ personal coach to healthy hair and self love. It is Akilah’s purpose to help girls and women have a better understanding of how to step into their magic and become the Bosses of their achievements & of course her hair.
Our girls are the leaders of tomorrow and together, we can partner to deliver value driven experiences within communities. CurlBoss’ “Me, My Hair & I” project vows to develop and guide our girls to be the bosses of their achievements, mind/ body, and of course their hair. We are looking for community leaders, empowerment organizations, educators, and various other influencers to help support girls on their journeys.
Please contact Akilah Young at akilah@curlboss.com or 917-239-7104 for more information on how to bring CurlBoss to your girls.
